Anyone who has taught lower-level students will know how rewarding it can be, but also how important it is to have access to appropriate teaching materials that offer maximum support and a good balance of skills. In this book, experienced ELT author and writer Rhona Snelling outlines five key principles of writing materials for lower levels and demonstrates the theory in practice by presenting and analysing a series of model lessons. You then have the opportunity to practise your own lower-level writing skills through a series of practical tasks supported by task commentaries.
This book aims to help you to:
- identify a lower-level student’s specific language level and their specific needs.
- understand the unique challenges of writing for lower levels.
- understand five key principles for writing for lower levels.
- analyse and write lower-level materials by completing practice tasks related to models.
This book forms part of the ELT Teacher 2 Writer training course. The course is designed to help you write better ELT materials, either for publication, or simply to improve the quality of your self-produced classroom materials.
